Ruby Ellerin (b. 2005) is an American artist based in Chicago and New England. She currently studies studio art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
I move across my studio from the wheel to the wooden table, my beads and shells strewn about, working across mediums while treasuring forms and underlying secrets. My practice spans ceramic vessels, silkscreen and offset prints that combine drawn and photographic imagery, and iterative rainbow plaster casts of ritual objects. I examine the forms of naturally occurring phenomena and associate them with fragments of my memory and personal history, creating biographical, instinctual work. Symbolism and play are central to my practice. I exaggerate and extend color as I explore the uniqueness of lived moments and of existing within our world.
